Program Notes

Written for Indonesian pianist Linda Angkasa, Panji Fantasy is a programmatic work based loosely on the Panji legend. The story is about an Indonesian prince (Panji) whose bride (the princess Candra) is kidnapped on the eve of their wedding. After a long search, the prince finally finds the princess, who has been forced to appear in disguise. However, the only way the princess can reveal her true identity is by wounding the prince in battle, which represents the culmination of this virtuosic piano work.
