Program Notes

Chorale and Congregation was written during the summer of 2011. The work features a slow-moving and church-like chorale as a setting from which each instrument emerges and engages in soloistic discourse and chatter. Both chorale and congregation rise to a powerful uproar before dying back down to the tranquility of the opening.

— Charles Halka

Premiered and recorded live on September 25, 2011
with Sean O'Neal (violin), Micah Ringham (violin),
Padua Canty (viola), and Patrick Moore (cello)
